“I am grateful for the opportunity to mentor in the S Jay Levy Mentorship Program. The selected students are motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate, which makes the program organic and meaningful for me. I’ve had the privilege of working with civil engineering students, and the program team makes the process so much easier because they provide them the tools to land outstanding internships and industry connections. Watching the students succeed is incredibly rewarding.”

“I believe the next generation should never be held back by lack of information or exposure. That’s why I committed to mentoring – to help build a future where students are better equipped than I was. For me, mentoring isn’t just a one-time experience. Even after our sessions end, I maintain strong connections with my students, offering continued guidance as they navigate life’s challenges.
One of the most fulfilling parts of this journey is receiving quarterly updates from students, sharing their latest educational and professional achievements. I’m proud to offer my knowledge and advice, helping them refocus during difficult times and guiding them through the chaos of balancing school and personal growth. The ability to share words of encouragement and be a trusted confidant is the greatest gift I can offer.
Year after year, I see firsthand the power of support. I’m deeply grateful to the S J Levy Fellowship for Future Leaders for allowing me to continue mentoring, and I am humbled by the recognition I receive from my students for the positive impact I’ve made on their lives. Knowing I’ve contributed to their success is incredibly rewarding.
As a scientist, sharing my experiences – both successes and challenges – to inspire interest in the field empowers not only my students but also myself. Mentoring is more than a responsibility; it’s a privilege to shape the future.”

“The S Jay Levy Fellowship Program is a reminder that our future leaders all start from somewhere. These talented group of students already have the tools to succeed but adding the opportunity to polish their skills through 1:1 sessions with a mentor gives them a real world experience that would otherwise get overlooked in some classrooms. I’m excited that their journey starts at CCNY and I can’t wait to see where they go from here.”

“Best job I ever had? Being a mentor to hundreds of CCNY students over the past five years (in and outside of the SJ Levy Fellowship). Many of them are now advancing in their careers across the city’s ecosystem — in engineering, coding, digital advertising, finance, food, and real estate. Some of the first students I coached are now able to hire (and admire the work that remains to be done for) the next class of graduates. It’s a perfect circle!”

“I have been so impressed with the students in the S J Levy program. I hope that I have been helpful to them but I can say for sure that I have learned a great deal from each of them about drive and grit and determination. They are a wonderful group and I feel quite lucky in having the chance to help where I can.”
