“I believe the next generation should never be held back by lack of information or exposure. That’s why I committed to mentoring – to help build a future where students are better equipped than I was. For me, mentoring isn’t just a one-time experience. Even after our sessions end, I maintain strong connections with my students, offering continued guidance as they navigate life’s challenges.
One of the most fulfilling parts of this journey is receiving quarterly updates from students, sharing their latest educational and professional achievements. I’m proud to offer my knowledge and advice, helping them refocus during difficult times and guiding them through the chaos of balancing school and personal growth. The ability to share words of encouragement and be a trusted confidant is the greatest gift I can offer.
Year after year, I see firsthand the power of support. I’m deeply grateful to the S J Levy Fellowship for Future Leaders for allowing me to continue mentoring, and I am humbled by the recognition I receive from my students for the positive impact I’ve made on their lives. Knowing I’ve contributed to their success is incredibly rewarding.
As a scientist, sharing my experiences – both successes and challenges – to inspire interest in the field empowers not only my students but also myself. Mentoring is more than a responsibility; it’s a privilege to shape the future.”
