Become an Internship Partner

Our diverse group of fellows represent an untapped reservoir of talent and are particularly driven to succeed. S Jay Levy Fellows perform very well in their internships.

Read on to learn more about what our partners have to say about their experiences.

The S Jay Levy Fellowship works with a variety of professional organizations that provide fellows with summer internships and support their professional development.

We think of our relationships with these organizations as partnerships because they are meant to be mutually beneficial: for fellows, it’s an opportunity to experience real-life working environments and acquire skills and connections that will help them advance in their careers; for partner organizations, it’s meant to be an economically viable way of accessing an extraordinary reservoir of diverse talent.

Internship partners offer summer internships to one (or more) of our fellows. In case the internship is unpaid, the program supports fellows with a stipend of up to $5,250 for 280 hours of work. This allows fellows to avoid choosing between gaining meaningful experience in their desired field and pursuing paid but unrelated or low-skill employment, and enables organizations of all types (including research institutions and non-profits) to access high quality talent.

In addition, partners are also encouraged to engage with the Fellowship in a variety of other capacities. This may include guest presentations within our classes, mentorship opportunities for our fellows, general career advice, and participation in our social events, including the Gala Dinner in City College’s Great Hall.

“I’RAISE has consistently had a positive experience working with the S Jay Levy Fellows and deeply values our partnership with the S Jay Levy Fellowship Program these past two years. The support provided by their team, especially Lavie, has been outstanding. Since 2023, we’ve had the privilege of hosting passionate and driven CCNY students during the summers at our non-profit organization.
The dedication and commitment of the fellows to our non-profit’s mission were truly remarkable. These fellows have made significant contributions across various departments, including HR, Marketing, and our School Program.  We highly appreciate how the S Jay Levy Fellowship Program creates growth and networking opportunities, while providing students with real-life work experiences. The fellows have demonstrated a deep passion for making a positive impact in the community, and we are inspired by the program’s ability to nurture such talent. We are incredibly grateful for this ongoing partnership and look forward to continuing to work with such talented and dedicated S Jay Levy Fellows.”

“For the past 10 years, we’ve enjoyed partnering with the S Jay Levy Fellowship program.  Every time I interact with the students, I have confidence that these students are driven, hard working, and eager to learn.  As our telehealth programs and services continue to expand, it’s been a pleasure to mentor and teach these students as they are crucial future leaders in their respective industries that they will soon enter.  Our company looks forward every summer to work with these students and share our knowledge and expertise as subject matter experts in telehealth / telemedicine.  The fellows always bring a fresh new perspective that is refreshing and delightful.  We look forward to many more years and growth of our partnership.”

The Jed Foundation (JED) has had terrific success collaborating with the S Jay Levy Fellowship program to bring dedicated, creative, and thoughtful interns to JED to support the organization’s mission of creating communities of care and preventing suicide among the nation’s teens and young adults. Over the years, S Jay Levy fellows have made great contributions across the foundation, from higher education programming to public relations and beyond. Participating in the fellowship’s fall internship fair is a valuable experience that has allowed JED to maintain relationships with fellows and engage them in youth mental health and advocacy endeavors beyond summer internship opportunities. JED is proud to partner in the professional development of such hard-working, passionate, and inspiring students and to work alongside the S Jay Levy Fellowship program’s amazing leadership team.

“Rentricity and more recently HydroCosm has participated in the S Jay Levy Fellowship program at CCNY for the past 5 years. During that time, we have benefitted from a number of students from the mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering programs. All students went above and beyond their summer internship requirements and in some cases provided surprisingly smart and articulate business logic, a big plus!. All energetic, eager to learn and with a desire to contribute value, we continue to support the program and hope to benefit from it in the years ahead.”

“We have been fortunate to have worked with eight Levy Fellow interns in the past four years and have been impressed by all of them. They have been eager to learn, willing to pitch in at every turn, and wonderful advocates of our work in Downtown Brooklyn. And, just as Downtown Brooklyn Partnership benefits from The Levy program, City College students gain real world experience and skills that help guide career decisions and inform their professional aspirations.”

What it Entails

During the internship, fellows work under the direct supervision of the host partner, but they also report regularly on the work they are doing to the S Jay Levy Fellowship Program Officer. The fellowship pays their stipend (if applicable) directly based on filed timesheets. Internship partners and fellows work together to structure a work hours schedule of at least 24 hours per week for a minimum of 280 hours over the course of the summer.

We prefer that prospective internship partners engage directly with our Managing Director and current fellows during the recruitment process, and that fellows not be directed exclusively to an application portal. Our Managing Director is available to work with prospective internship partners to address questions or concerns.

Internship partners are under no obligation to accept a minimum number of fellows for a summer internship each cohort year. However, as our pool of internship partners has grown, many organizations have decided to set aside one (or more) positions specific to the fellowship each year. There is no maximum number of fellows that an organization can accept.
